| If your dream of a great vacation includes riding once or twice a day, country air, mountain views, hiking, riding out cross country, or just plain resting and enjoying being around horses, come spend some time with us.
"Did you ever dream of the
perfect vacation? I know I have. It would have
horses of course, lovely, well trained horses, a
beautiful manor house set in acres of rolling
hills, a library of horse books to read in the
evening, oh yes, a knowledgeable and sympathetic
instructor who could teach me, a timid and klutzy
amateur how to ride those wonderful horses and
actually look good doing it.
Lantern Lane Farm, a lovely 1800's horse farm, half
way between Warrenton and Sperryville, and fifteen
minutes from Flint Hill and Little Washington,
offers ... fireplaces for
winter, and third level dressage horses. Who says
dreams can't come true!"
- Guest, Lynn Bill, Ohio
Our
Goal at Lantern Lane Farm is to offer you a
week of "horsey bliss" in a
quiet country setting away from the hustle
and bustle of every day life. For riders who cannot be away for a whole week, our customized riding vacation program may work better for you.
We are
an equestrian bed and breakfast and training center with a certified instructor/trainer as one of the
owners, Debbie Craig. This combination creates
a perfect haven for your week of
rest, relaxation and equestrian
gratification. You may choose to ride once
a day for an extended period of time, or
divide your riding into morning and
evening sessions.
The biggest decisions you will have to make is whether you want to take dressage, balance seat, or jumping lessons, and/or go cross country trail riding with an experienced guide. Your next important decision will be, where do you want to go for dinner?
 Activities
at the farm start with breakfast. The next activity of
course is riding! Riding lessons and cross
country trail rides are scheduled
according to the request of the day.
Lessons are given in the morning following
the breakfast hour and/or later in the
afternoon, or, a guest may choose to take
a two hour riding lesson for a more
intense and detailed learning
experience. These types of lessons are great for getting to the bottom of
riding problems that may need great detail
and discussion to resolve, when an hour
just isn't enough.
The Rest of the Day can be enjoyed as
you wish. Reading and napping are favorite guest activities. There are also great antique stores in the area, wineries that provide wine tastings, Skyline Drive (a scenic route across the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains), canoeing, and Luray Caverns that are all within one hour of the farm. We are twenty minutes from the towns of Warrenton and Culpeper, two pre-Civil War main street communities which offer small town shopping and restaurants.
Stop by Farfelu
Winery, Grey Ghost Vineyards, Oasis, Rappahannock Cellars and Unicorn Wineries - for a tour and tasting.
For
history buffs, we are close to
several major Civil War
Battlefields. For the golf
enthusiast, a public course is
available about ten minutes from
the farm.
Dining
in the beautiful Virginia countryside
is available at a variety of fine
restaurants within fifteen minutes of the
farm. All of the restaurants offer
wonderful atmosphere, but understand their
clientele's desire for casual
attire. The result is great food
without having to "dress up" for
dinner. In Warrenton and Culpeper,
family style restaurants offer modestly
priced entrees. Guests may also
visit our local grocery store and bring
back food to prepare dinners on the grill.
